List of the publications published in 2020 organized by Research Line (RL):
Our Institute is characterized by its high quality research outcomes and by its highly talented people. By the end of 2020, we counted with 5,658 publications, and more than 181,500 citations, with an average ratio of more than 32 citations per paper and a total h index of 156.
During 2020, ICMAB researchers have written 267 articles in international peer-review science journals of various disciplines: chemistry, physics, materials, nanotechnology, photonics, energy, superconductivity, biochemistry, etc., with an average impact factor of 7.28. The most published journals are, with 13 articles, ACS Applied Materials Interfaces, with 8 articles, Chemisry A European Journal, and with 7 articles , Crystal Growth Design, and with 6 articles each, Advanced Functional Materials, Jounal of Physical Chemistry C and Nanoscale. According to the Scimago Journal Ranking (SJR), 72% of the papers were in first quartile (Q1) journals, 53 % in first decile (D1) journals, and 44 articles (17 %) were published in journals with impact factor above 10 (data from Journal Citation Reports 2020). 111 publications (41.6 %) from 2020 were published in Gold Open Access, and the rest are already in the Digital CSIC institutional repository (Green Open Access), although 76 were still embargoed at the time of publishing this report. Moreover, 3 publications of 2020 are considered “highly cited paper” by the Web of Science, i.e. it is in the top 1 % mostly cited in its category and year worldwide.
The internationality and interdisciplinary of our researchers is also confirmed by the high number of collaborations with other institutions from Catalunya, Spain and from 50 other countries around the globe. 73 % of the papers (194) are in collaboration with other countries, and 90 % of the articles (239) are co-authored with reserachers from other institutions.
The countries with most collaborations are, in this order: France, USA, Italy, United Kingdom, Germany, China, Switzerland, Belgium and Russia. At ICMAB we also collaborate in multiple projects with our neighboring colleagues: out of the 157 collaborations with Catalan institutions 35 are from the UAB and 16 with the ALBA Synchrotron. We also have 13 collaborations with CSIC centers, including ICN2.
ICMAB researchers collaborate mainly with universities (529 collaborations), research institutes, hospitals, synchrotrons and other large facilities or state agencies (286 collaborations), and in a minor way with private companies (23 collaborations), other CSIC centers (13 collaborations), and other consortiums and institutions (18 collaborations). The CSIC centers with which we most collaborated in 2020 are the ICN2, next to the ICMAB (5 collaborations), and the following, with 1 collaboration each: IQFR, IQAC, INCAR, IMB-CNM, ICV, ICMS, ICMM and CINN.
