The Thermal Analysis and Surface Area Analysis Service is used for the study of the behavior of materials when temperature changes under different conditions and atmospheres, and for studies of surface area and porosity. The Service allows for simultaneous thermogravimetric analysis (TGA- DSC/DTA), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), as well as Brunauer–Emmett–Teller (BET) Surface Area Analysis.
The ATG-DSC/DTA Netzsch equipment has processed 109 samples in 218 experiments (89 % internal users), and the DSC equipment, 97 samples (19 % internal users). This corresponds to 16 internal users from 6 ICMAB research groups and 9 external users from 5 companies, 1 spin-off, 2 research centers and 1 university.
The BET Surface Area Analysis equipment has processed 350 samples of 23 users: 87 % internal users from 9 Research Groups with an average of 17 samples per user, and 13 % external users, from companies (5 samples) and the UAB Analytical Chemistry Department (5 samples)
